Toyota Introduces a New Flagship GR Corolla
Toyota has officially revealed the 2026 GRMN Corolla, a new flagship model developed by Toyota Gazoo Racing and positioned above the standard GR Corolla.
The GRMN badge has historically been reserved for Toyota's most performance-focused vehicles, and the new model continues that tradition with extensive chassis, suspension, and aerodynamic upgrades.
Toyota says lessons learned through motorsports development and endurance racing played a major role in shaping the vehicle.
More Torque, More Focus
Power continues to come from Toyota's turbocharged 1.6-liter three-cylinder engine, but engineers have increased torque output to approximately 302 lb-ft.
Toyota says the changes were designed to improve acceleration, corner exit performance, and overall responsiveness during spirited driving.
The six-speed manual transmission remains available, reinforcing the model's enthusiast-focused mission.
Track-Oriented Suspension and Aerodynamics
The GRMN Corolla receives revised suspension tuning, upgraded dampers, and additional chassis enhancements intended to improve grip and driver confidence.
Aerodynamic revisions include additional venting, weight-saving components, and a large rear wing designed to improve stability at higher speeds.
Toyota engineers also focused on reducing weight throughout the vehicle wherever possible.
Toyota Continues Investing In Enthusiast Vehicles
The announcement comes as Toyota continues expanding its Gazoo Racing portfolio.
While much of the industry focuses on electrification and software-driven features, Toyota has maintained a strong commitment to performance-oriented vehicles including the GR86, GR Supra, GR Corolla, and future Gazoo Racing products.
The GRMN Corolla may become one of the most sought-after performance Toyotas in recent years if production remains limited.
What Happens Next
Toyota has not yet released final pricing information, but the company expects the GRMN Corolla to sit at the top of the GR Corolla lineup.
Additional details regarding availability, production numbers, and market-specific configurations are expected closer to launch.
For enthusiasts, the announcement signals that Toyota remains committed to building vehicles designed for drivers first.
